Mary Marguerite Wesney Pomeroy

Cheerful and loving to the end, "Mom" died peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born October 11, 1923 at Corning, Ohio; moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1936. Graduate of Pasadena High School Class of 1940. A lifelong member of South Main Baptist Church. Died May 20, 2002 at Garden Terrace Nursing Center, Houston, Texas at age 78.

Preceded in death by her son James Edward Pomeroy, sister Dodie Chidester Reeves, brother Jack Wesney and parents Julius and Mary Wesney.

Married 61 years, she is survived by her loving husband Clyde D. Pomeroy, Sr. of Pasadena.
She is survived by her sister Pat Domarod and husband Frank of Huntsville, Texas; daughter Mary Petty and husband Gary of Houston, Texas; sons David Pomeroy and wife Debbi Caitlin of Brazoria, Texas and John Pomeroy and wife Susie Leader of San Leon, Texas and her widowed daughter in law Debbie Sodaro and husband Mike of La Porte, Texas; grandchildren Debs Pomeroy of Middleburg, Virginia; Kimmy Green and husband Thompson of Houston, Texas, Randy Pomeroy & wife Kelly of Liverpool, England, Kevin McCluskey and wife Minnie of Palm Beach, Florida, Dawn Goldston and husband Matt of Friendswood, Texas, Barron Pomeroy and wife Jennifer of Webster, Texas, and Misty Ann Hicks and husband Jason of Houston, Texas; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Never a harsh word and always a helping hand, Marguerite had all of the qualities of a devoted wife, wonderful mother and talented artist. She never sought the limelight, all she asked for was to give and receive hugs. In fact she was once declared the "Queen of Hugs" at a Rotary Club of Pasadena banquet. She will live on in the memories of those who knew her and by the deeds she inspired in her family and their families.
